February 2018OAKS Restaurant, located on Bromley Place in central Nottingham, reopens on 26 February with a new menu, all new website and new weekly promotions following a fire at the end of last year.

On 30 November, 2017, a small fire took place within a kitchen extractor fan at OAKS. No one was injured, however the damage caused to the restaurant interior resulted in an 11-week closure as repair work was undertaken and new extractors fitted. The restaurant has since switched from wood chips to charcoal to fuel its custom-built iron grill. Following several test cook-offs, the OAKS Chefs are excited with the mouth-watering new flavours they are delivering, guaranteeing a whole new level of sizzling tastes for diners to discover.

Head Chef Mark Jones and his team have worked hard over the past weeks carving up a range of new dishes and promotions. The much loved OAKS menu is now reinvigorated with tantalizing new burgers, a wider range of vegetarian options, drool-worthy Mac ‘n’ Cheese sides and spicy ribs. In addition to local Castle Rock ales on tap, bottled British craft beers and ciders, the drinks menu now boasts Cinque by Shepherd Neame on tap – a premium five-grain lager made with aromatic French Strisselpalt hops. English still and sparkling wines by award-winning Kent-based winery Chapel Down have been added to the wine list.

Meat-lovers will rejoice at the new Sheriff of Nottingham burger – a 7oz beef patty, with red Leicester cheese, rashers of bacon, Worcestershire sauce mayo and homemade mustard piccalilli for £11.95. Foodies who don’t mind sticky fingers will relish the Smoked Barbecue and Honey Glazed Full Rack of Ribs for £19.00.

Vegetarian friends and family need not go unsatisfied: new additions include a Duo of Vegan Steaks at £11.95 – including Cauliflower and Chipotle Lime steak and Garlic Aubergine and Romesco with Giant Couscous; two new vegetarian burgers include The Popeye with Spinach, Red Leicester, Red onion and Garlic at £8.95, or the Jack & The Beanstalk with two Mixed Bean patties, Spicy Tomato Salsa, Red Onion and Guacamole at £9.95.

Classic, Mushroom and Spinach, and Pulled Pork Mac ‘n’ Cheeses make up a new trio of sides.

OAKS’ weekly promotions now include Wings & Ribs Wednesdays (bottomless wings and ribs at £8.95 per person every Wednesday from 5pm) and Fish & Fizz Thursdays (a glass of fizz, catch of the day and hand cut chips for £14.95 every Thursday from 5pm).

The Friar Tuck Challenge Cumberland Sausage remains on the menu – back by popular demand along with the Little John Burger challenge. Those who beat the current eating times for each will find their names on the challenge “wall-of-fame” in the centre of the restaurant, enjoy social media glory and go home with a challenge t-shirt.
