Hotel GB's Patrick Smith joins Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes
Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes appears in channel 4’s ‘Hotel GB’ as a secret employer
London, 23 November 2012 - PPH&R, contemporary upscale hotel brand with hotels across Europe including Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes London recently appeared in channel 4’s ‘Hotel GB’, as a secret employer. Michelle Wells, general manager for the hotel put the contestants through their paces and went on to offer a role to Patrick Smith who joins the hotel in the position of Meetings & Events Sales Executive.
Patrick was part of the winning Mary Porta’s team, starting in the housekeeping department led by Kim Woodburn and then promoted to the front of house team. Following eight years of travel industry experience, including Trailfinders and Leadenham Estate and Polo Club, Patrick seized the opportunity to apply for Hotel GB in order to get his dream job in the hospitality sector. At the end of the show, Patrick was offered the role of Meetings & Events Executive almost immediately, by secret employer Michelle Wells, General Manager at Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes London.
Patrick Smith commented, ‘My ultimate goal is to become a hotel general manager and Hotel GB gave me the opportunity I was waiting for to face the day-to-day challenges of working in a busy London hotel. I chose the role at Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes London as I liked the brand’s reputation, product offering and values and I wanted to be a part of its growing success and really make a difference to guest experience. My new role in Meetings & Events is challenging but I have a great team to support me and develop my skills and knowledge. I hope that the hospitality sector continues to actively promote the industry to young people as a career choice, as does Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts”.
